A classic pairing that's one of our most popular in store. Our orange iced chocolate and milkshake recipe is easy to recreate at home using our mellow, smooth 54% Dark chocolate flakes + fresh orange zest.
Using 54% Dark chocolate flakes means that our iced chocolate recipe is vegan. To make your milkshake vegan, just choose a plant-based ice cream. You can also experiment with different % chocolate flakes.

Iced chocolate and milkshake recipe
Ingredients + equipment (makes 1 medium drink):
- 54% Dark hot chocolate flakes
- 200ml of dairy or plant-based milk
- A fresh orange
- A chocolate shaker
- A zester
- Ice cubes
- 3-5 small scoops of soft scoop ice cream (for milkshakes)
- A glass
Instructions:
Start by making a small hot chocolate. Add milk up to level 2 in your shaker (about 100ml), then add 5 teaspoons of 54% Dark chocolate flakes.
Put the shaker in the microwave (without the lid) for half a minute. Or, you can heat your milk on the hob and add it to the flakes in the shaker.
Put the lid on the shaker, making sure it’s pressed down, and then secure the lid fully. Shake for 10 seconds or until all the flakes melt.
Zest half a teaspoon of orange, then top up with cold milk. (We recommend giving your orange a quick soak in hot water followed by a scrub with a vegetable brush to get rid of any wax and impurities before zesting.)
For iced chocolates - Add some ice cubes to your shaker, give your drink another quick shake, then pour and enjoy.
For milkshakes - Add 3 small scoops of ice cream, shake and then taste. You can add more ice cream depending on your taste preferences. Make sure to add small scoops or teaspoons of ice cream so that it melts properly.

Hot chocolate recipe
Ingredients + equipment (makes 1 medium cup):
- 54% Dark hot chocolate flakes
- 200ml of dairy or plant-based milk
- A fresh orange
- A zester
- Your favourite mug
Instructions - to make on the hob or microwave:
Heat200ml (about one large mug) of milk in a saucepan on the hob, or in a large mug in the microwave. Make sure it doesn’t boil as this will affect the taste.
Add around 8 teaspoons of 54% Dark hot chocolate flakes. You can experiment with the quantity of flakes based on your taste.
Zest and add half a teaspoon of fresh orange. (We recommend giving your orange a quick soak in hot water followed by a scrub with a vegetable brush to get rid of any wax and impurities before zesting.)
Stir until your flakes have fully melted.
Pour into your favourite mug and enjoy your orange hot chocolate.
